eset security review
ESET’s suite provides the most value-for-money. Its malware detection rate is near perfect and it packs a decent assortment of additional features into the space of a tiny footprint. The Android package includes an anti-theft feature to help you locate your phone that has been stolen. The premium version comes with parental controls, a secure browser, and a passcode manager. The features to protect your network such as a firewall and the option to check home devices for vulnerabilities, are beneficial.
SysInspector is an outstanding tool. It creates a snapshot and highlights important Registry entries and running processes. It can be intimidating for novices. However, if you are familiar with task managers like the ones in Sysinternals the process explorer, you’ll be at comfortable.
Scheduling scans on demand is another excellent feature. This is a great alternative to real-time security, which is quick and simple to set up. It’s just a shame that ESET does not group this with other scheduling tasks and its UI makes it somewhat difficult to locate than its rivals.
Other notable features include a robust form filler that can be used for online banking, an excellent spam filter that gets the highest scores in our tests, as well as a efficient password manager that is simple to use. The password manager is only available in the premium version, and requires an ESET account, but it performs about as well as the other standalone solutions I’ve tested.
